Was disappointed this morning to find this lovely Swallow struggling on the ground before eventually dying. What struck me was the most beautiful sheen of dark blue on his upper part, his underside was a creamy white with a black throat and dark red chin and forehead. Only good thing was, if you could call it that, was that I got a close up view for this lovely bird.

Oh Dear !!!! Very , very sad accident ! Swallows so belong to the sky. I have heard that someone somewhere can even eat Swallows and that's terrible. They are like Untouchable Birds. They bring summer to Finland as they arrive.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that it is dead, but that happen from time to time. It has beautiful colors, MB
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think the bird was dying? Do you know the type of swallow?
ReplyDeleteSwallow (Hirundo rustica). No idea what happened to him. Ann
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird this was. I'm always saddened when I find a dead bird in our yard, wondering what could have happened. Just the way of nature, I guess. :(
